The 3 Phases of the Law of Attraction
In the last few years everyone has been jumping up and down about the Law of Attraction and how you can just ‘imagine’ things and your thoughts will be like ‘a magnet that just attracts things to you’. Well, it doesn’t work quite that simply. Just thinking about a beautiful red Ferrari and imagining driving one is not going to cause that Ferrari to be parked in your driveway when you wake up tomorrow morning.
You don’t just instantly start attracting like a Master Manifester – there are 3 stages:
ACTION
TRACTION
ATTRACTION
In stage 1 – the Action phase – it is about ‘showing up’ and just taking the small steps in the manifesting process.
The manifesting process is
1. Ask - get clear on what you want and ask for it by writing it down, saying it out loud and visualising it.
2. Receive “Answers” – which will come as people, opportunities and things or inspired thought.
3. Take Aggressive Action – just DO it! Take action on any “answers” you receive.
Imagine taking one small action daily towards your Big Dream/ WIG (Wildly Improbable Goal).
What would that look like after 6 months?
It would cumulatively be 180 actions which suddenly turn into something significant!
If you are able to conquer your fears and any ‘stuckness’ you experience (and we ALL experience these, even Fairy Godmothers) and keep taking those small actions you will be amazed at how, after a while, you move into the TRACTION stage. This is where the rubber hits the road and it feels like a lot less effort and it is easier to spot (and overcome) your fears and you begin to move into the momentum of your Big Dream and goals.

It’s like pushing a massive boulder along a dirt road. In the beginning you have to exert lots of effort into pushing the boulder – using your arms, shoulders, legs. It may make you sweat and breathe hard and at this stage it is easy to give-up and say “hey this boulder isn’t going anywhere”. But if you keep your focus, attention and effort on the boulder it will slowly start to rock and move and overcome its inertia and, after it does a few rolls down the road, it becomes easier to push and you exert less effort. This is TRACTION.
After a while, if you CONTINUE to take ACTION (and push the boulder) during the TRACTION stage, you will move into ATTRACTION. ATTRACTION is where you literally move into the ‘slipstream’ of your dream or goal and it starts to carry and move you, rather than the other way round.
Look at the “Extraordinaries” like Richard Branson, Mandela and Oprah – they are so in their ‘slipstream’, ease and flow of ATTRACTION that everything comes to them. Do their lives look easy, effortless and fun? Of course! But was it always like that for them? NO! They also had to go through the ACTION and TRACTION phases. They are Extraordinary simply because they went through these phases. Most people give up in phase 1 because it is just way too much effort to continually conquer your fears and grow yourself so that you can be at the same expanded level as your Wildly Improbable Goal.
How do I know all this? Because I am having the experience of it. When I first became a Fairy Godmother there was LOADS of fear and I had to just chip away at taking ACTION whenever I received answers – and often I took loads of ACTION even though there were no answers which, after a ,while I realised was a completely fruitless exercise driven out of fear.
Then in 2008 (2 years after I started… it may only take you a few months) I moved into the TRACTION phase where it felt like the action to keep things moving and growing somehow became much easier. It was like some momentum of its own was beginning to carry me and then, in November 2008 I moved into the ATTRACTION phase. The switch to moving into ATTRACTION was that I gave up resisting and ‘trying’ and, instead, moved into a space of simply ‘allowing’ whatever was needed to happen. And, then, guess what? In 2009 I got so caught up in “trying” and “pushing” again that I slipped out of ATTRACTION and back into TRACTION and over the last 18 months I have see-sawed between the TRACTION and ATTRACTION phases.
The key levers that shift me from TRACTION in ATTRACTION are
1. Being grateful
2. Finding the joy in each moment
3. Letting go and trusting life
4. Having fun, playing to my strengths and doing what I love.
I know I am in the ATTRACTION phase when everything feels effortless – this is also called FLOW.
In this space, simply with clear intention things are attracted. When I slip back into fear and scarcity-thinking then I go back to TRACTION and pushing the boulder… but it is all a journey and a process.
So the moral of the story is – when you get the “answers” in line with your dreams and goals just keep taking the actions even though, at the time, it feels like very small steps.
