14 KEY Life Lessons
Dear Fairy Godmother
I have learned so much from the 12 week Growing Wings program that I did with you, that I would love to share it.
I have learned that:
1. I have so much to be grateful for and I truly am
2. If one does not take the time to reflect on their actions, achievements, successes and failures – one misses the important lessons and the answers available, so pause, take a breath and let it all sink in.
3. Happiness is entirely self-made and I am a Self-made Happiness Millionaire
4. It’s not that difficult to achieve great things if you stop and think and respect yourself enough to realise that fears and obstacles exist either because we have mistakenly placed them there or to act as a warning sign, both should be acknowledged and respected.
5. No matter how hard we work for something there are often people in our lives who do not understand our dreams and insist they know better, this does not mean they don’t care (no matter how annoying it is).
6. Sometimes our dreams should be bigger than we make them; we mostly just don’t know (or believe) what we’re capable of
7. Just because it’s called a dream, doesn’t mean I shouldn’t strive to achieve it
8. People who deplete my tank shouldn’t get the most say in my life and on my actions.
9. The news is not necessarily right or a good thing just because Sky and the BBC produce it.
10. Despite what anyone says, my sleep needs are not a bad thing and I will not compromise them
11. If I don’t look after myself properly I am ineffective to myself, to others and worst of all to my Dreams
12. Fear, stress and too much television incapacitates everyone, not just me
13. My school teachers were all wrong and completely and selfishly crushed a dream because they couldn’t dream bigger or be bigger themselves.
14. Allowing myself time to do the things I love is not and should not ever be a luxury item, these things are number 1.

De-clutter, Organise and Spring Clean your Life

Today on “Interview with a Fairy Godmother” on 101.9 Chai FM at 15h00, I will be interviewing Kate Emmerson – fondly known to many as “Kick-Ass” Kate. Why? Because that is what she does…. she kicks your ass to let go of the things that no longer serve you whether that’s physical clutter, emotional baggage or toxins at a body level.
Kate Emmerson is one of South Africa’s most renowned coaches, she also speaks, writes for magazines, is an expert on many TV shows and is truly a woman living her dreams.
Kate has a fantastic 28 day “Spring Clean your Life” online program, that I highly recommend.

Joburg Unhinged – a documentary dream
Last week, I was excited to be sprinkling fairy dust over Adrian Loveland at the launch of his first documentary called Jo’burg Unhinged.

Adrian has spent the last 3 years working on this awesome documentary. As a patriotic Jo’burger, Adrian, as the lead character takes you on a real trip through the ups and downs, highs and lows of Jo’burg and gives a very balanced view about this World Class African City.
Well done on turning your documentary dream into reality, Adi!

Gogo Beanies
Mike Walker loves wearing a multi-coloured beanie (those woollen hats) on cold, wintery days. Mike Walker also loves his Granny (Gogo = Zulu for Granny). He combined these two loves, to form a project, Gogo Beanies, that is now creating hundreds of jobs and lighting up people’s lives.

A few years ago, Mike would visit his Gran weekly in her old age home and one day had an inspired thought “Gran could knit him some beanies for winter”. So, on the next visit, he took along some wool and she happily knitted her grandson some woolly beanies. He was delighted, she was delighted! And when he experienced her delight he realised that he should get more wool for her to make some more. Thus Gran was on a roll of making beanies and the question arose of “how many beanies can one man really wear?”
So Mike started giving some beanies to his friends. The other grannies in the old age home became inspired by the delightful energy of beanie making and they, too, began to knit beanies. All the time Mike kept taking more and more wool and more and more beanies were being knitted and soon Mike and all of his friends had more than enough beanies. The Grannies, however, didn’t want to stop because making beanies gave them a feeling of purpose and it was at this stage that Mike had another inspired thought “what about giving beanies to orphans for winter?” Thus Gogos made beanies and Mike gave beanies to orphans and Gogo Beanies was truly born…
To cut a long story short (too late, I know!), M-net has recently sponsored R 2 million to the project but with a slightly different spin – now not only Gogo’s knit beanies but women in rural areas can knit beanies and the R 2 million will ensure R50 goes to the knitter for every beanie knitted.
So, suddenly, Mike’s project has gone from just making Grannies and Orphans happy to now
1x beanie = a job for a day!
That’s the power of following your passion!

A BIG Fairy Godmother Wand Wave to Mike Walker for following his passion, spreading love and taking just one step at a time on a powerful journey.
Help Mike to keep grannies and the unemployed kitting and to keep orphans warm…
