5 Tips for Spring Cleaning your Life

I am so excited that I have just witnessed the first blossoms appearing on the trees outside my bedroom window. Seeing those first blossoms are always a joyous occassion for me, because it means that Spring is creeping and ready to pounce - bringing warmer days and a sense of blissful renewal. So while Mother Nature begins to paint her canvas with delicate blossoms, warmer days and a tinge of crisp freshness and new beginnings, inspired by the magic of Spring over the next two weeks I will be doing 5 blog posts in homage to the new energy that is blooming for all of us.
Our energy is naturally in rhythm with the waxing and waning of the seasons and now after the cozy-up, hibernating feeling of winter, the beginning of Spring brings with it excitement and energy, a time for reflection and a sense of new life, a FRESH START.
So how can you use the natural energy of the Spring season to get your body, mind and spirit back into shape?
Here is the first of 5 tips and tricks from the Fairy Godmother to use this Spring-time energy to its full advantage.
1. Clean Up Your Space
By this I mean all space that you are in and that you take up – clean up space within yourself spiritually, mentally, emotionally and clean up space that you use on a physical day to day basis, at home, work, in the car and in the traffic.
It may seem fairly obvious to “Spring Clean” by cleaning and tidying up space – but apart from getting out your feather duster and clearing out your wardrobe – there are a few less obvious parts of your life that may need a spring clean too.
The concept of Spring cleaning is to get rid of the things in your life that are “weighing you down”, the dead-clutter from winter (or the past) that needs to be swept away to make space for the new feeling that Spring brings.
You will be amazed at how much of your energy is invested in the stuff that is “lying” around in your life and when you get to clean out all those things, there’s a sense of release, relief and a notable shift in your energy.
So make a commitment to yourself to clean out the places in your life that are clogged up with things – it may be your wardrobe, your office desk, your car, a shelf in your garage, your e mail inbox.
The key rule for a Spring Clean is: “When in Doubt, Throw it away”
The things that you think you should keep for a “I might need this at sometime” moment are things that actually need to be thrown away. Be ruthless, clutter just complicates life. If you haven’t used it in the last 4 months, throw it away.
Don’t be fearful of throwing office work and papers etc away, because in reality, we can source, research and find anything again with the Internet, the Google era is upon us and is very useful indeed.

Aug 4What is your contribution?
After getting back to South Africa a few weeks ago, I came down with a case of the post-holiday blues but very quickly the universe sent the most amazing inspirations into my life some of which I have been delighted to share with you through my most recent blog posts and I will be sharing some more on this blog in the week.
Carmen, who works with me, also spent some time in London recently and last week we discussed that while some people in South Africa have the “jitters” – guess what, it is a worldwide phenomenon. I felt it in the States and Carmen felt it in the UK.
Being back I this country, I am so excited by the wonderful and positive work being done by so many “active citizens”. People who, instead of just grumbling and complaining about the situation, are instead making a contribution to a powerful and positive future. If you want some inspiration from some of our ordinary heroes who are making a difference look at
Justin Foxton from Stop Crime Say Hello;
Derryn Campbell from Awesome SA;
Michelle Korevaar from Spice4Life;
Ian McDonald from SA the Good News;
Martine Schaffer from Home Coming Revolution;
Sarah-Jane Boden from Represent;
Guy Lundy with his Reasons to Believe;
Max and Peter from Heart of Healing;
Nic Haralambous from SA Rocks!;
the organizers of Leader’s Day;
Alan Knott-Craig with his book Don’t Panic
And all the other thousands of South Africans who are contributing to the positive future of this beautiful country that is pulsing with possibility and potential.
What is your contribution to the future of your country?
(I would love to have your comments about your contribution or how people can contribute. Or stories or acknowledgement of other South Africans who are making a differnce to the future of this country through their actions… post a comment below)

Jul 28Best way to start the week is… BAREFOOT
As a Fairy Godmother I am continuously on the look out for tools and resources - like books, seminars, people, teachings - that will help me and you improve our ability to live our dreams and create and manifest our lives.
Well about 10 days ago I got the must delicious dose of inspiration from the BAREFOOT DOCTOR and WOW, the tips that he prescribed have already made such a marked impact on my life in the last 10 days!

Stephen Russell aka The Barefoot Doctor is one of my favourite teachers and I first chanced upon him when I read the Handbook for Heroes - which I loved. It is filled with wise advise about how to attract fame and fortune into your life.
As part of my own commitment to my constant learning and growth, I subscribe to a weekly Webinar (web seminar) by a great guy called Damien Senn - which is called People You Should Meet and once a week he interviews amazing people who are great teachers in their specific field. He interviewed the Barefoot Doctor a few weeks ago and in this interview with him, he discusses how to “Reveal the Pure You”
- How to embark upon a personal journey of discovery to connect with the Pure Essence of who you truly are.
- How to cultivate the confidence to stand up to those close to you who may not want you change.
- How to accelerate your manifesting ability by aligning your desires with your soul using an ancient Taoist manifesting system.
The Barefoot Doctor gives such wonderful advice on how to find the Authenticity in your life and one profound principle that he shared has changed my perception of being in my body and my experience of physically being in the world.
This is one of the most powerful talks I have ever listened to and for some real magic, I urge you to listen to it too.

Jul 16Manifesting a Winter Lover
If you have had a conversation with me in the last few months you may have heard me say “I’m manifesting a winter lover”. I could imagine nothing nicer than a warm body to cuddle up next to during this big FREEZE rather than my current bedtime companion – the hot water bottle.
As a Fairy Godmother, I teach people about how to create and manifest what they want in their lives. In my life, I put my teaching into practice and have managed to attract the most amazing opportunities, people, work, travel and fun. Yet, in the area of my winter lover, despite getting clear on what I wanted, doing my VAKGO visioning every morning for a month, telling people about it, it is now 4 months later and…. NOTHING!
Even though I know better, I have been stamping my foot impatiently and in the last month have been starting to demand at the universe “where is my god damn winter lover that I have been asking for?”
Then I met my friend Simon last week and he shared about how he was inspired about my idea of a winter lover when he heard it about month ago. He then gleefully and blissfully told me that he has since manifested a sexy, French winter lover who actually leaves to go to India in 3 months – so she really is just a winter lover.
WHAT?!!!!
I have been asking for FOUR months and yet Simon manifests his lover in a matter of weeks?
I was seriously starting to question my Fairy Godmother manifesting abilities, but then as he described his manifestation of his lover, the lesson hit me like a thunderbolt from the blue –
You see, Simon decided he wanted a winter lover, he got clear on what he was looking for and then he did something about it. Firstly, he put an advert on the Gumtree saying he was looking for a winter lover, he then signed up to a dating website, he went on a few dates and he went up to a few interesting girls and asked them for their numbers. And….. Voila! After 3 weeks of setting his intention, Simon has a gorgeous winter lover who he is having loads of fun with.
The lesson is, if you want to manifest something in reality you have to TAKE ACTION!
I, on the other hand, have been all visioning and talk and NO ACTION and the RESULT = NO WINTER LOVER.
If I look back at the last 4 months, the universe has sent me lots of “answers” to my asking and opportunities to take action and yet I have conveniently ignored my part of the manifesting process.
Opportunity number 1:
Within a week of me getting clear and starting to vision a winter lover, my friend Grant, told me he had the perfect book for me and a week later he placed it in my hands.

It is called “The Program – how to find a husband after 30” and when I read the title I thought “I’m not looking for a husband, merely a lover” and since then the book has been gathering dust. Who knows what pearls of wisdom could be hidden in that book that could have helped me manifest a warm, bedtime buddy?
Opportunity number 2:
Another helpful friend, Michelle, suggested Internet Dating and even gave me the Dating Buzz URL and 3 good reasons why I should do it. Despite me nodding in agreement, my inner voice made up some excuse about “not having time” and the result…. Well, Michelle has found her winter lover. She scores 1 and I score 0.
A Myriad of Opportunities
In hindsight, as I look back over the last 4 months I can see that the Universe has been sending me opportunity after opportunity to take some action which will enable me to realize my dream and yet I have embarrassingly done NOTHING about it.
And it has taken me four months to actually realize that even though I have been speaking about it, I have been DOING nothing about it.
Creation happens first in thought, then in speaking and then through action.
So if you are stuck with a dream or goal that you want to turn into reality then ask yourself
Are you taking Action?
My action is that I have just joined Dating Buzz…. despite my little inner voice being negative about online dating. Who knows what other opportunities it may bring?
Watch this space!

Jul 2Nature’s Infinite Patience

The Athabasca Glacier is a frozen cascade of blue-tinged ice that has formed over thousands of years. It meanders between dramatically carved mountains and as it recedes and melts, the waters wash into the river ways of Northern Canada. Today I stood on this shelf of 100 meters of compacted ice. As I surveyed the majesty of the snow-capped mountain peaks, I was conscious that there was over a thousand years of creation under my feet. This glacier has inch by inch carved the magnificent mountains and valleys and fed the rivers for millennia.
And as I stood there, I realized that there was a fundamental lesson being whispered to me by Mother Nature about creating and manifesting. The lesson was encapsulated in the layers of compacted ice –
Grand creation takes time and nature has infinite patience.
In our current era we live in the “microwave culture”. In our generation we are used to things happening quickly – Pop your dinner in the microwave and PING, two minutes later your meal is ready to eat. One hundred years ago this meal would have taken most of the day to prepare and 50 years ago it may have taken an hour or two but in this age – PING, two minutes and it’s ready! We have learned and been conditioned to expect immediate satisfaction.
As a Fairy Godmother I work with hundreds of people to make their dreams come true and this is one of the problems that comes up when people start manifesting their dreams – they want the “microwave” version of manifesting; the quick fix, “please-wave- your-wand-and-make-it-appear” variety of dream making.
What they sometimes forget is that in the process of creation and particularly creating out into reality that an important variable in the creation process is TIME! When you first create your dreams or vision in your mind’s eye time is not a factor. This part of the creation process is like planting a seed in the universal soil. For this part of the manifesting process time does not exist – in the spiritual or universal realm there is no past or future there is only now. It is when we are having this human experience that the construct of time exists – because the mind needs time to make sense of life. Thus, time is needed for creation into the reality in which we live. Time is needed for the tree to grow, the dream to hatch, for the glacier to carve the mountains and leave behind spectacular natural beauty.

“But how much time?” is a question I am often asked. “Once I am clear on my dreams and goals; once I start visioning them in my mind’s eye; how much time will it take for them to become reality?”
This is a difficult question to answer. If we could understand and practice INFINITE patience then we would experience INSTANTANEOUS creation.
Because of our addiction to immediate results, when people who I work with do not experience quick signs of their dreams manifesting, they throw their hands up in despair and give up – “I tried, but it didn’t work” I hear them say. Trying is not good enough. A glacier doesn’t try to melt – it melts; a tree doesn’t try to grow – it grows and it knows that the growing takes time.
The key variables in manifesting and turning your dreams into reality are:
- Clarity of Vision
- Focus on the Dream
- Discipline to do the daily visioning
- Courage and Persistence to keep taking the necessary actions
- Passion and Perseverance
- Synchronicity and Serendipity from the Universe
- TIME
In human history, some big dreams have taken decades and some take lifetimes. True visionaries understand that the majority of their dreams will only be realized beyond their lifetimes and yet nevertheless, everyday they still continue to walk the path to realize those dreams.
So if you have been “stomping your foot” impatiently because your dream or goal isn’t manifesting fast enough. Take a deep breath, look out of your window at a tree outside and absorb the lesson from Mother Nature.
Creation requires patience and creation takes time.

Jun 20Live your Authentic Life
I was recently on the phone to a friend of mine telling him about my past few weeks that had involved travelling around South Africa, doing workshops and speaking engagements, meeting amazing teachers and helping people live their dreams. The most exciting part is that I have recently been asked by Oshun Books, a publishing company in South Africa, to write a book on how to turn dreams into reality. So I was chattering away excitedly to my friend about how blessed I am to be living my own dreams, to be on purpose and how marvellous this life of co-creation with the universe is and how grateful I am.
After my babble of excitement he commented – “when you first said you were a Fairy Godmother, I thought you were crazy – but over the last few years you have been really living and being who you are, authentically. Even though you are a little nutty, with your wand and fairy wings, you have been living your brand of nuttiness and it is working. It is inspiring to see how happy you are and hear about the wonderful things happening in your life.”
Living your authentic life is a key to living and manifesting your dreams. Authenticity is the ability to be you – to be truly who you are with all your strengths and all your flaws, despite what other people think or say about you. Authenticity is when you live your own unique brand of nuttiness so that you are able to bring your own flavour into the world.
Imagine if the only flavour for ice-cream was vanilla – a little boring right?
Well, most people are living a vanilla life – stuck in the 9-to-5; doing jobs they don’t like; earning enough money to pay the credit card debt; concerned about what other people think – and then wondering why they are bored, depressed or just not feeling fulfilled in life.
If you could choose any flavour of ice-cream which would you choose?
If you could choose any flavour of life which would you choose?
I would like to suggest that you choose the Flavour of YOU!
You have been put on this planet for a purpose and your skills, past experience, character, strengths and weaknesses have been perfectly blended to help you fulfill this purpose – to help you lead your true, authentic life. The life that is true for you.
When you lead this type of life you bring your special flavour to the world and not only are YOU enriched, but the world and others are enriched by your unique gifts.
Imagine if Nelson Mandela had chosen a vanilla life? Or Bono or Oprah or Einstein or Churchill or Elvis Presley? If they had not allowed their crazy, nutty uniqueness and authenticity to shine through, the world would be a very different place.
I love this video below which is a tribute to bringing authenticity into the world
My flavour is the sparkly magic of a Fairy Godmother and it makes my life delicious.
What flavour and brand of nuttiness do you wish to contribute to the world?
