Acting As If

One of the best techniques for creating and manifesting what you want is to ‘Act As If’ the dream or goal is a reality. ‘Acting as if’ is very effective because it shows existence that you are in full faith and trust. At the beginning of this process (as with many of the techniques like the FIM – Future Imagined Memory – or Affirmations) it may feel like you are faking it and the inner voice may whisper harsh words, but if you continue the process you will find that very soon answers will be dropping into your life to aid you in creating what you want.
If you want to be, do or have something then you need to play the part.
Shakespeare knew this part of manifesting when he wrote
“All the world’s a stage,
And all the men and women merely players;
They have their exits and their entrances,
And one man in his time plays many parts”
So begin to treat your life and the world as your stage for what you want to create. When you have created a new Wildly Improbable Goal (WIG) consider how you would ‘play the part’ of the person living that WIG. When you begin to relate to manifesting as a game you will find the fun, lightness and joy of life. When you become too attached or serious about it, it can easily become a struggle. The Universe loves it when you begin to really play the game and ‘acting as if’ is part of that playing.
So the question is, as a Daring Dreamer what can you begin to do to ‘act as if’ around your WIG or dreams and goals? How do you begin to play the part?
Some ideas for actions you can take for “Acting as if”…
- Get Business cards made with your name and the designation of what you want to be doing eg. Bridgette Bolton – Wildlife Documentary Filmmaker
- Organise a party for a manifestation you want to celebrate – eg. Zoe has organized a ‘yippee, I have a job party for early July’ to celebrate having landed her new job.
- Go to a networking function and introduce yourself as what you want to be doing, rather than what you are doing now. eg. Hi, I’m Kerry and I’m a photographer and poet. (You will be amazed at what this begins to generate as people begin to relate to you as your dream, rather than what you do now.)
- Go and try out whatever it is you want. Want to live on a farm? Then organise to spend a weekend away on a farm and when you are there ‘act as if’ it is yours and you live there all the time. Test drive the new car you want. Go into the Gucci shop and try on the clothes and while you are doing it, feel like you are purchasing them. Go into the travel agent and make enquiries about that trip you want to take.
- Clear space in your life for what you want. If you want a new carpet for your living room then get rid of the old one. This opens up space for the new one coming.
- Book time in your diary for the holidays you want to have, the things you want to manifest in time.
- Speak something as though it is happening in the present – “eg. oh yes, I am on the cover of that magazine.”
- Do the research around what you want.
Acting as if is very powerful because it assumes full faith and trust.
Consider your dreams, goals and the things you are wanting to manifest. What are the things that you can start doing as ‘Acting as if’s’?
